COMMUNITY-LED CAMPAIGNS
COMMUNITY POWERED PETITIONS AND CAMPAIGNS
Petitions submitted and crowdfunded campaigns must align with the following principles
PRINCIPLE 1
Community Impact
We take on issues that affect New Zealanders in meaningful ways, addressing concerns that resonate widely within communities.
PRINCIPLE 2
Bipartisanship Potential
Our focus is on issues that encourage collaboration and compromise, steering clear of divisive topics to maximise support and effectiveness.
PRINCIPLE 3
Underrepresented Issues
We champion causes that often lack visibility and support, giving voice to underrepresented concerns that need public attention.
PRINCIPLE 4
Greater Good
We support campaigns that strive for the greater good, advancing solutions that enhance the well-being and quality of life for all.
OUR COMMUNITY-LED PETITIONS AND CAMPAIGNS
At Lobby for Good, we’re dedicated to creating real change by championing community-backed causes that matter. Our volunteer-driven team, supported by our members and donors, shines a light on underrepresented issues to make a lasting impact. Here’s how your involvement powers the process:
Petition Submission: Community members submit issues for us to consider. We look for petitions with strong local backing and the potential to resonate with a broader audience.
Evaluation: Each petition is reviewed against our four guiding principles—community impact, bipartisan potential, underrepresented issues, and positive impact—so we can focus on campaigns that build momentum and bring people together.
Building Connections: Once chosen, we collaborate with charitable organizations, advocates, and local groups to develop practical solutions, building partnerships that strengthen each campaign.
Crowdfunded Campaign Launch: For campaigns that align with our principles and reach our signature goals (5,000 signatures for local issues and 10,000 for national ones), we launch a crowdfunded effort. This brings in the resources and expertise needed to counter well-funded lobbyists by presenting the other side of the story—data and insights that our politicians and decision-makers may not otherwise see.
Your support allows us to:
Stand Up for Community-Driven Causes: Your contributions let us take on more issues, bringing in skilled professionals to lead impactful lobbying efforts on behalf of our communities.
Amplify Campaign Impact: With adequate funding, we can ensure each campaign receives the visibility and resources it needs to make a real difference.
Enhance Research and Strategy: Your support enables us to conduct thorough research and craft informed strategies on the issues we represent.
Achieve Real Change: Together, we can accomplish concrete results that improve life for all New Zealanders.
Join us in our mission for a brighter, fairer future. Share our campaigns, contribute, and be part of a movement where community passion turns into meaningful action. Together, we’re transforming voices into results.
COMMON QUESTIONS
How are the funds from the community-powered campaigns allocated and utilised?
As a social enterprise here is a guide to how we allocate funds:
70% directly funds the campaign, including resources, materials, and activities that are crucial for our campaign.
20% covers operational costs to keep us running smoothly and efficiently.
10% is set aside for future projects and innovation, ensuring we can continue to support important causes.
How do you decide which community campaigns to take on?
We evaluate campaigns based on two main criteria:
Your campaign should have a strong base of support, with the possibility at achieving at least 10,000 signatures for national issues and 5,000 signatures for local issues.
Your campaign must align with our principles of community impact, bipartisan potential, highlighting underrepresented issues, and aiming for positive outcomes.
What happens if a campaign is overfunded?
While this hasn’t happened yet, any extra funds from a campaign would go toward future community campaigns that align with our mission and need financial support.
Can Lobby for Good support a petition I started on another site?
If your petition has gained significant support, we’re happy to review it. Petitions with a high signature count and a clear alignment with our values are more likely to be considered for action.
I am passionate about one of your campaigns, how can I pitch in to make a difference?
If you feel strongly about one of our campaigns, there are lots of ways to pitch in! Spread the word on social media, share it with friends and family, volunteer with us, or even host an event to build support.
