COMMUNITY-LED CAMPAIGNS
COMMUNITY-POWERED PETITIONS & CAMPAIGNS
At Lobby for Good, we take on issues that matter to everyday Kiwis, but not every cause makes the cut. By keeping these core principles at the heart of our work, we ensure that every campaign we take on has the power to make a real difference.
PRINCIPLE 1
Community Impact
We back issues that directly affect New Zealanders, challenges that communities care about and that, when addressed, create real, tangible change.
PRINCIPLE 2
Bipartisanship Potential
Change happens when people come together. We focus on solutions that unite rather than divide, ensuring broad support to drive action and real outcomes.
PRINCIPLE 3
Underrepresented Issues
Some voices get drowned out in the system. We champion causes that aren’t getting the attention they deserve, bringing them into the spotlight where they can’t be ignored.
PRINCIPLE 4
Greater Good
We push for policies and campaigns that don’t just fix short-term problems but create long-term, positive impact—improving the well-being and future of all New Zealanders.
TURNING PUBLIC FRUSTRATION INTO ACTION
At Lobby for Good, we exist because too many decisions are made behind closed doors, and everyday Kiwis are left in the dark. We believe that government should work for the people, not just those with money, connections, or influence.
We bridge the gap between communities and decision-makers, ensuring your voice is heard where it matters most. We fight for transparency, accountability, and real change. But we can’t do it alone.
How We Take Public Concern & Turn It Into Real Change
Here’s what we can do right now, and what we hope to bring back when we have the sustainable funding to do so.
WHAT WE'RE DOING RIGHT NOW:
Independent Investigations
We fact-check, investigate, and expose the truth behind questionable council and government decisions. If a deal looks shady, we dig deeper and ensure the public gets the full picture.
Public Advocacy & Media Campaigns
We bring governance failures into the spotlight, using media exposure, direct advocacy, and strategic pressure to ensure public concerns are addressed.
Engaging Decision-Makers for Better Outcomes
We work with councils, MPs, and policymakers to ensure they hear from communities, not just corporate lobbyists. We push for transparency, call for independent investigations, and ensure genuine public consultation actually happens.
WHAT WE COULD DO WITH MORE SUPPORT:
Petition Service (Currently On Hold)
We have the platform and tools to run community-backed petitions that drive real action. However, without sustainable funding, we can’t provide ongoing support for every campaign, so for now, this service is unavailable. With enough backing, we can bring it back and give communities a powerful way to push for change.
Sponsor a Campaign & Fund Targeted Investigations (Currently On Hold)
We want to take on more investigations and advocacy efforts, but right now, some critical issues are sitting on the sidelines because we don’t have the funding to fight them all.
Crowdfunded Lobbying & Legal Action (Currently Limited)
We know that corporate lobbyists, consultants, and private interests have deep pockets, and the only way to counter that is with community-funded lobbying and legal challenges. Right now, we’re only able to take on select cases, but with more funding, we could fight harder, push further, and hold more decision-makers to account.
YOUR SUPPORT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!
Without funding, we can’t keep investigating, advocating, and applying pressure.
Your contributions allow us to:
✔ Keep digging into the issues that matter—so the truth gets out.
✔ Hold councils and politicians accountable—so bad decisions don’t go unchecked.
✔ Bring back critical services like petition support and campaign sponsorship.
✔ Fund independent lobbying—so communities have the same firepower as corporate interests.
✔ Push for legal action when necessary—because sometimes, the only way to win is to fight.
We’re Ready to Do More, But We Need Your Support to Make It Happen
If you’ve ever thought, “This needs to change” or “Someone needs to hold them accountable”— this is your chance to make that happen.

COMMON QUESTIONS
How are the funds from the community-powered campaigns allocated and utilised?
As a social enterprise here is a guide to how we allocate funds:
70% directly funds the campaign, including resources, materials, and activities that are crucial for our campaign.
20% covers operational costs to keep us running smoothly and efficiently.
10% is set aside for future projects and innovation, ensuring we can continue to support important causes.
How do you decide which community campaigns to take on?
We evaluate campaigns based on two main criteria:
Your campaign should have a strong base of support, with the possibility at achieving at least 10,000 signatures for national issues and 5,000 signatures for local issues.
Your campaign must align with our principles of community impact, bipartisan potential, highlighting underrepresented issues, and aiming for positive outcomes.
What happens if a campaign is overfunded?
While this hasn’t happened yet, any extra funds from a campaign would go toward future community campaigns that align with our mission and need financial support.
Can Lobby for Good support a petition I started on another site?
If your petition has gained significant support, we’re happy to review it. Petitions with a high signature count and a clear alignment with our values are more likely to be considered for action.
I am passionate about one of your campaigns, how can I pitch in to make a difference?
If you feel strongly about one of our campaigns, there are lots of ways to pitch in! Spread the word on social media, share it with friends and family, volunteer with us, or even host an event to build support.
